My First Comic Con
There is so much going on in my brain right now, and I don't even know where to start. First of all, I still think this is all kind of stupid. You know what. Wait. Pause. I don't just think. This is all stupid. Only my subconscious could come up with a situation where not only would people want to pay to bring me to a comic convention, but people would want to pay to see me at said comic convention.
That being said, I think today was the first day in a long time that I've experienced fun. Mama came with me. She comes with me to all this stuff. She doesn't think I'm "emotionally mature" enough to handle it on my own. She's probably right. She's always been a smart woman.
We started the day off walking down the street from the hotel to get a banana milkshake. She always gets that for me as a treat. It's her way of compensating me for doing these stupid conventions and interviews even though she knows that I have absolutely zero interest in doing any of them. I do them because they bring in money, and things haven't exactly been great money wise lately. Between the appearance fees and the mysterious money that shows up every week...I think we're doing alright, but she tries not to talk to me about money too much.
There's way too many people at this Comic Convention. I don't think saying that there's too many people is doing it justice. It's just a giant, 3 city block wide, shambling mob of people, and you have to somehow find your way through it to get to where you're trying to go without it swallowing you whole. It's different here in California than it is back home. When people run into you they don't apologize. They actually get angry and act like it's your fault.
I got to meet Kevin Smith. That was cool I guess. Not sure why my subconscious would think that's someone I would want to meet, but I guess I can't complain too much. If I somehow am not currently experiencing everything through life in my subconscious, and any of this is actually real, then Kevin Smith is a cool person that is much smarter than he gets credit for. I see the man having a very bright future...if this is real. Which we all know that it isn't. None of this has been real since the car accident.
I also met Jhonen Vasquez the creator of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. That is a very interesting man. Very interesting indeed. Now that man. He is definitely the kind of person I could see the meat muscle inside my skull conjuring up. He started talking to me about another idea he's been working on that he's going to call Invader Zim. I don't know. It could be cool.
I wish I could just spend the rest of the time here at the hotel. I really don't like being around all of these people. It's only for another couple days. It really is getting good money for Mama as well. I hope that she gets to relax a little when we get home.
I guess this is me signing off from my first Comic Convention. Hopefully my last. At least hopefully my last while being a resident of the brainscape that is conjured by my brain. I doubt I would want to be in such a tight space with so many people in the real world either though to be fair.
